- (975–1038)Monarch and Saint.Stephen was the son of Duke Geza and he became a Christian with his father in 985. He was crowned as the first King of Hungary by Pope Sylvester II. He established sees throughout his kingdom and he made every effort to convert his subjects to Christianity. Although much of his work was undone after his death, he was canonised in 1083.LC.
